Front Subframe

The Z Cars tubular front subframe is designed to dramatically reduce bump-steer. At 10 kilos lighter than the standard front subframe set-up it represents a material weight-saving over the classic original. The current generation has inboard aluminium rose-jointed shock absorbers adjustable for ride height and damping operated by push-rod and cantilever running a lower wishbone. The rose-joints and threads allow adjustment for toe, camber and caster. We are currently developing a double wishbone setup using standard Mini uprights, which will increase the space within the frame for the fuel tank, radiator and fan. The subframe maintains the original’s mounting points at the top but has an increased 10 point fixing over the original’s 2 point floor fixing enhancing rigidity. The frame is supplied powder-coated and nickel plated on the metal parts.
